I live in Japan, the ultimate in tech savvy nations but even here the real estate agents are back in the stone age regarding how to use the web to give their listings more exposure. The problem with a real estate is that they are like a lawyer; no one wants to use their services but must. This has lead the industry to get very coddled in terms of trying to broker deals. As the article mentions, there are legions of agents out there still trying to make money through agent to agent referrals but these kinds of agents are relics. The agents who embrace the web and how it can help them close more properties, the sooner the industry will globally benefit.
